what does it mean to tend?
For months now I’ve felt the pull of a changing wind, whispering to me about new and blooming fields. I started Tend during the pandemic, seeking to connect humans to beautiful, pre-loved objects for their homes. Tend represented my own personal wish - for a community that celebrates a soulful approach to creating spaces - for me, this has always meant prioritizing items that already exist in the world, rather than new things, whenever possible.
Klaus Littman’s “Arena for a tree”
Two things that are currently inspiring me:
Klaus Littman’s “Arena for a Tree,” which I visited at the Landesmuseum Zürich last spring.
And these words from Braiding Sweetgrass, by Robin Wall Kimmerer: “In the Indigenous view, humans are viewed as somewhat lesser beings in the democracy of species. We are referred to as the younger brothers of Creation, so like younger brothers we must learn from our elders. Plants were here first and have had a long time to figure things out…”
White Mountain Safety Resources
I get a lot of questions about hiking in the White Mountains now that I live in Franconia, NH. While I am a novice to these mountains myself, I wanted to use today’s #optoutside momentum, in lieu of Black Friday marketing, to gather resources specific to the region from those who do have expertise.

Newport woman feature
I was recently honored to be interviewed by Newport Woman, a new blog by Zoe Simanski of Blossom Newport. I chatted with Zoe about why shopping secondhand, wherever it feels possible for each of us, is so very important.
Gentle Birthday Playlist
This February, Tend turns 2 and I turn 35. In celebration, I wanted to share some songs and voices that are very dear to my heart - a mix of quiet piano, opera and art songs for you to enjoy.
Lookbook: Undine
She came from the water. Beckoned by a promise, Undine was drawn from the green pellucid depths of her home.
die winterreise
Imagery inspired by the cold around me, the minimalism of the north, the beauty of a frozen landscape, and the light and warmth to be found at home.
